Los Angeles, California: We drove to Los Angeles Thursday afternoon and met Lenny and the children (Lisa had a board meeting) for dinner at one of my favorite little Italian places in Glendale.
Friday morning we all presented ourselves at 7:30 for Grandparents Day at Leo and Lucile’s school. As I wrote in my last post, this was our last Grandparents & Special Friends Day, as this celebration is only for students in the lower school and Lucile moves up to middle school next year.
The school has an outdoor brunch situation set-up outside every year… but this year they did not serve pastries and bagels. They served mini beef or turkey sandwiches and fruit. Delicious, but an unusual choice at 7:30a. After fueling up on coffee, we were off to make photo frames with Lucy, and then to have our photo taken for the frames.

Occasionally we would run into Leo. He did have class (middle school) today, but would be excused at noon and not need to return to school until December 2nd (Lucy too).
After our photo crafting, we went to the school book fair to purchase a few books for Lucile’s classroom (and a few books for Lucile), then visited Lucile’s actual classroom to talk with her teacher and say hello to her 13 classmates.

And don’t forget spending time in the dance studio where Our Girl practices her pom routines. Lucy is the only lower school student on the school Pom squad (bragging).
Obviously, she gets her dancing skills from her grandfather:
The final part of the morning was a Holiday-themed musical performance including the Early School (toddlers) up to the 5th graders. Highlight of this celebration were the interspersed film snippets of the 5th graders interviewing the Pre-K kids about what they love about their grandparents. Lots of laughter and tears from the comments, but the general vibe is the teeny students love spending time with their grandparents because of hugs, love, food, and presents. (Basically the same things I cherish from time with my grandparents.)
Somethings - happily - never change.
After all the singing had finished, Gramps and I headed back to the desert with 5 million of our closest friends. Ick - terrible traffic on a Friday afternoon before Thanksgiving.
The 4L’s are off to DC to spend the holiday with Lenny’s parents. DT and I set sail along the Mexican Riviera Sunday to celebrate our sister-in-laws 60th birthday. Follow along!
Until my next update, I remain, your grandmotherly correspondent.
