Paso Robles, California: With a 250+ mile drive ahead of us, we were up early, stowed nearly everything (the tea kettle sat on the stove top for 50 miles, completely unnoticed, until it slid off the burner with a clunk, but without damage), returned the rental car and pointed the Petit Peregrinus south to Paso Robles. Our goal: get the RV parked and the TV satellite dish deployed in time to watch the first World Series game from Toronto at 5 o’clock.
Our lunch stop was near Gilroy where we pulled into a vast empty random parking lot for lunch. I grilled a panini sandwich roll in a skillet and smothered both sides with Molly Yeh’s Dill Mayo while slices of the leftover Mustard’s Grill meatloaf heated in the same skillet.

Dang if that wasn’t just some deliciousness.
It seems we just drove south forever. Same scenery after leaving the Bay Area. Farmland. Freeway. Farmland. Freeway. I’d say it was pretty, but it was a freeway.
When we pulled into our campsite for the next three days - Sun Resorts Paso Robles - there was a very long line to check-in. DT stayed in the RV and I walked up to the office to check-in. Every person in the office was in (Halloween) costume. We learned it was “Halloween Weekend” at this resort and soon saw so many families and so many kids and so many dogs and so many golf carts decorated for Halloween. Apparently Halloween weekend is a big thing at this RV resort, (where you can also rent golf carts - and there is no golf course here). I don’t think we will be getting any early nights, but kids will be having fun, so the Bubbe in me will be chill with the thrills. Dave went out on a walk after we set up camp and snapped photos of decorated campsites.

The resort is massive, over $150 per night for just a basic site, lots of park model rentals, several swimming pools, plus a restaurant and bar. Lots of activities!
Our TV dish went up, the Dodger game went on. It wasn’t looking good for Los Angeles.

I made quesadilla-things while we watched the game. Kids were driving decorated golf carts around, blasting music. Don’t think any of this was safe, (or legal?) but no one asked me.
The first World Series game of 2025 ended poorly for the LA Dodgers, falling 11-4. Ugh. Not fun.
We plan to explore a bit tomorrow and be back to our RV to watch the Ducks v Wisconsin game at 4p - switching between the Ducks and the World Series game. Sports.
Until my next update, I remain, your “its only the first game” correspondent.
