Just A Travel Day

Canyonville, Oregon: Not too much to report today. Just a travel day. As reported last night, we dropped-off the rental car and headed south on I-5. The weather was most miserable, Dear Reader. Cloudbursts caused traffic (even semi trucks) to slow to 35mph. It has been a long while since we have experienced such heavy showers. Dark skies. Driving through the Eugene area we witnessed many lightning strikes out to the east. Scary stuff, and way too many farmers who did get their hay baled before the storm.

Only stopping once to share a sandwich, we mostly kept to the interstate, but veered-off occasionally to follow the paralleling Highway 99, just to escape the truckers blowing buckets of road puddles up into our windscreen.

We stopped at one of our favorite camping spots, 7 Feathers, in Canyonville, Oregon (exit 99 on I-5). We had the last available site - they are having a rally.

Our home on wheels

During our lunch stop, I put things in the crockpot for our dinner. This recipe for Slow Cooker Garlic Butter Chicken from The New York Times, popped-up the other day and it sounded right up our buttery alley. I was a bit disappointed that all that chicken, all that butter and all that garlic didn't smell better while we were driving and was super disappointed at the flavor and the tough bird (organic, free-range). The homemade croutons were the best part - I made the croutons the other night when I grilled bread for our appetizer platter.

They rarely disappoint.

No worries. We have plans for better food tomorrow, and a new campground we have never visited! Living our best life!

Until my next update, I remain, your pointed south correspondent.

Campground Information: 7 Feathers RV Resort - luckily we had a reservation tonight due to a rally and secured the last site available. Score! It is quite crowded tonight, with receptions, talks, live music, vendors, repair booths, etc. Non-attendees have been herded into the very nice few sites on the other side of the creek from the main campground. Full service sites, indoor pool/hot tub, laundry, bathhouse, fitness center, small shop. If you can't find what you need here, the casino will send up a shuttle to take you to the hotel/casino/restaurant on the other side of I-5, where you can gamble, eat, drink, shop. We paid $86 for a full-service back-in.
