North for a Few Days

Portland, Oregon: We are in Portland now, visiting friends. I told My Driver I needed a day of rest and he agreed. We took our time driving north. Dave was in the Petit Peregrinus and I followed in the POS rental car. We pulled-over to a large parking lot to have a sandwich, but really didn't do much today. It was Father's Day and his only child was having a great time at our house in La Quinta!

The Four L's, along with Angela, Bryan, and their 2-year-old, Sebastian... and another friend, Gabe, gathered at our house for a weekend get-away. The temperatures were hovering around 106° and our pool was 92° (only heated by the sun and ambient temperature). From the photos sent and text messages received, it seems there was a lot of pool time. Bicycling. Eating. Sebastian only wanted to be in the pool and constantly asked Lucile to take him into the pool, where he was enjoying the "tanning" shelf - a very shallow ledge in the water covered by an umbrella. When Lucy reminded "Bash" he had a pool at his own house, Sebastian told her, "This pool is more fun!" (Probably only because Leo and Lucile were there.)

Leo caught a bass and brought it to the house
to show Sebastian. (It was then released.)

Steak Night

Before returning back to Los Angeles, our 8 guests went up to the clubhouse for Father's Day Brunch... and put it all on DT's tab. Happy Father's Day, DT!

I prepped a mini-feast for Lisa's dad. Marinated chicken thighs (that Dave grilled), a simple salad and a not simple potato gratin, cooked in our Barbie oven that only reaches 390 degrees.

I'm in communication with Brian to replace this terrible oven.

Happy Father's Day!

Until my next update, I remain, your Portland correspondent.
