Nearly There

Canyonville, Oregon: We left Red Bluff mid-morning and drove all dang day. Traffic was actually fairly light, but there was a bit or road construction. Roads were good and smooth (especially when we entered Oregon). We stopped for fuel in Weed - fairly cheap diesel at $4.60 per gallon - and then stopped at the rest stop at the Weed airstrip, where I served My Driver a house-made tuna salad (on an actual bed of greens and tomatoes instead of between two slices of bread).

I am so extremely happy to report that Lake Shasta is completely full! Not sure it could another gallon of water. It's been so long!

Lake Shasta this morning in black & white

Again, we have stopped for the night at I-5 exit 99 in Oregon to 7 Feathers RV Resort. It really is one of the nicest, cleanest, and best-operated RV resorts in America. Really a great park, but (unless you are a gambler) there is really not much to do around here that can't be covered in 3-4 days (golf, historical restaurants, a ghost town) of tourism. Still, we never pass-by 7 Feathers. There is a small grocer that is pretty well-stocked, and a few restaurants in town (not at the casino/resort), and cheap fuel at the Native American-operated truck stop.

Our home tonight

We did not go into town, nor leave the campground. DT went for a walk. I did a little laundry and prepped dinner. We missed our Sunday night pizza due to apricots that needed to be eaten, so baked a California Pizza Company cheese pizza tonight. Not sure our Barbie oven gets very hot, we we managed to get the pie to a decent done-ness:

It's pizza - with fresh basil leaves
Served with an Israeli salad with farro.

We plan to reach TrackTown tomorrow and settle-in for a four-day stay as we attend the NCAA Track & Field Championships. The competition goes from Wednesday through Saturday - afternoon sessions.

Schedule is here. The first three days will be live on ESPN2; the final day will be live on ESPN. Check your local listings, but I expect you all to be watching and cheering for the Ducks. You know we love track & and field and travel all over the world to watch the premier events, but there is nothing (and I mean nothing) like the NCAAs. It's kids. Young students and their parents and teammates. Lots of cheering. Lots of tears. Lots of jumping up and down. A star at the NCAAs could the the next star in the Paris Olympics. The college championship meet is the best meet! We just love attending. Hope you can catch some of the excitement later this week.

Until my next update, I remain, your Oregonian correspondent.

Campground Information: 7 Feathers RV Resort - One of the nicest RV resorts in America. Tons of sites with full service. Back-ins and pull throughs. Indoor pool/spa. Small fitness center. Firepits. Bathhouse and laundry facilities. Shuttles circulating constantly to take campers to the casino/restaurants. Beautiful landscaping. We paid $77.76 for a short back-in site.
