Back in La Quinta

La Quinta, California: On Monday (1 April 2024) we traveled back from our soggy RV campsite in Borrego Springs to our home in La Quinta. The kids helped us empty our belongings/food from the RV and after a quick clean-up (seriously, it does not take long to deep-clean a 24 foot C-Class), they went with us to deposit the Petit Peregrinus back to her storage garage. 85 loads of laundry began, and we all jumped in the pool and hot tub.

Thinking everyone would have gone home after Spring Break and it would be easy to get into local restaurants, we took the kids to Stuft Pizza for dinner. Wrong! Apparently Leo and Lucile are not the only kids still on Spring Break... or maybe California spreads-out the school breaks? We had to wait quite a while for a table, but Leo was happy to have his new obsession - a cheeseburger. Leo wants to invent a burger bun to hold a hamburger sandwich so the whole thing remains together while eating. No more mess. Leo requested I bake all sorts of interesting shaped/sized buns for his invention. (I did this.) Anyone wanting to invest in his enterprise... or send a few pounds of flour... please contact me.

After lunch at SumoDog, we played 9 holes on Tuesday. The kids did quite well. Leo is really getting his drives out there and Lucile is really hitting her croquet shots out there. More pool time after our round.

SumoDog - (seriously good tots) Half-dog is the kiddie meal.

Wednesday: Golf club shopping for Leo with Bubba. Pedicures for Lucile and myself. Dinner at Mitch's on El Paseo before going to the Zoo Lights at the Living Desert Zoo. We went to this exhibit last year, (honestly, last years show was so much better), but the kids enjoyed it again this year.

Sorry, but I still can't figure out how to make horizontal videos smaller:

They are not competitive. At all.

There isn't an age limit for Zoo Lights. Everyone enjoys. It wasn't too crowded (timed entrance), it wasn't too expensive (ample free parking), and there are plenty of places to sit and rest, or grab a snack. The animals were on display (we saw so many cheetahs!) until dark. Really a great evening and I had well over 10,000 steps for the day.

Sadly, our fun times were over. We had to return our charges to their parents on Thursday. Dave and I took the kids to LA, slowed-down in front of their house, and tossed them (and their belongings) out of the car, then continued back to La Quinta. Just kidding, but we did not stay long. There was a big wind storm predicted and it was in full-force upon our return. Seriously strong winds blowing and keeping us up half the night. So scary. We woke Friday morning to clear skies - like nothing had happened... except for the pounds of bougainvillea flowers in our pool and debris everywhere else!

After a quiet week in our future, we have so many more adventures in store. Stay tuned.

Until my next update, I remain, your resting correspondent.
