Borrego Springs. California: Try to contain your excitement. It is just so freakishly hot (pushing 100°), that we struggle to be too motivated. Of course, My Driver rode his bicycle for over an hour in the desert early this morning while I prepped a fancy breakfast (as we were missing the usual brunch at our club. (Of, how I do sacrifice.) Late morning, we had a tee-time for 9 holes. We had considered just going home, but what's the fun in that?

Our 11a tee time was honored and we caught a group on hole 3. They were teaching their young son the game and let us play through. No one was in front of us and we actually finished 9 holes just shy of 90 minutes. I hit a few very nice drives and My Driver had pars on the first three holes. (I will not report what happened on the next six holes.) We saw two Roadrunners, one dead duck and one pile of (I think) Dove feathers on the course. Life is tough in the desert.
The afternoon was spent watching the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships (recorded via NBC on our satellite television), needlepointing and DT did the Sunday NYT Crossword puzzle. The sound system was so horrible at the televised track meet. First time from this stadium on Staten Island or just a bad sound system? We could hear our friend, Rob - the field announcer - easier than we could hear the NBC television track announcers. Fine with us, but the thing with track and field... you can watch the races and see the winners and the times are posed on the screen. (Can't tell you how many track meets we have watched in foreign lands, announced in foreign languages.)
But isn't this true with most sports? Turn off the sound and you can figure it out.
For our appetizer tonight, I whipped-up a ricotta spread with minced rosemary from our garden, sea salt and a drizzle of honey. Served with rosemary/olive oil crackers, olives and radishes, it was nice complement to our entree.

Dinner tonight was Spinach Meatballs with Pasta (free link) from The New York Times. I made the meatballs a few days ago with 100% beef and it made so many meatballs. One dozen large and 6 smaller meatballs. (Portioned out and vacuum sealed.) I poached six large meatballs tonight in Rao's marinara sauce. Tomorrow, we will have meatballs subs with the leftovers... in the baguette we bought at the Farmers Market.
How is it already March? Blood Moon in two days.
Until my next update, I remain, your home-tomorrow correspondent.
Campground Information: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort - We have a paved, full-service, pull-through site. There is a table, but oddly no chairs. Paying $90-something a night. This resort has everything (except chairs). Pool, hot tubs, fitness center, library, lots of activities, and a regulation (very decent) nine-hole golf course.
