4L’s are Safe

La Quinta, California: I've been getting so many inquiries about Lisa and her family. They are here and are safe. Lisa & Lenny's house is away from any urban green spaces, forests, fields, etc. They have not been evacuated and never put on a standby-to-evacuate. They came here because of the terrible air quality, schools are closed, and just the general chaos of Los Angeles now. The fires are unending. People we know have lost their homes. We are also housing Lisa's BFF Angela, Bryan, and their two-year-old, Sebastian - they were forced to evacuate Wednesday. And don't forget our two granddawgs! Yes, we are a full house, with every bed occupied, but are so thankful to have this port-in-a-storm for our LA family.

Meanwhile - we have a baby in the house!

We have noticed many young families in our country club. Everyone we have talked to have said they are evacuees and they are staying with family here. The clubhouse is doing a booming lunch business.

Our television in on all day with local Los Angeles or CNN news. Every station have abandoned usual programing to show only wildfire updates. It seems like we are watching a disaster movie. It can't be real, but it is real and life in Southern California will be forever changed. Until then, we have three kids to nurture, feed and explain things to.

Golf cart rides are popular

The pool has been heated to 90 degrees, there is ice cream in the freezer, diets have gone out the window, cocktail hour lasts longer than one hour. We are safe and we are together.

Until my next update, I remain, your communal correspondent.

  1. Thank you for letting us know. You have your priorities in the right place and we are grateful your family is safe.

  2. We’re so very glad your entire brood is safe! Several friends of ours have lost, literally, everything. Driving through greater LA looks like a massive set of “Die Hard” ~ it’s surreal. So glad your place in the desert is a retreat!

  3. Thank you for letting us know they are safe! Your family is as loved as you and Dave are.
