Pool Day

Near Koloa, Kauai: We didn’t even leave the hotel property today. Just relaxed by the pool, stitched by the pool, read by the pool, lunched by the pool, and basically relaxed. It was almost like we were on vacation.

The Grand Hyatt Kauai is a massive property and has all types of accommodations, activities, shops, restaurants and bars. Lucy found all sorts of activities and won a shave ice after completing the scavenger hunt. The pool has a lazy river, a water slide, several hot tubs and a massive salt water lagoon. Games (giant Jenga, corn hole) dot the grassy areas. Servers come by offering drinks and food. No one could be bored or hungry.

I didn’t want to eat lunch on my lap on a chaise lounge, so DT and I walked over to the snack shack and ordered burgers and mahi-mahi tacos for lunch, then took a stroll down to the beach to get the lay of the land.

Koi pond

At certain times of the day, staff bring food out for guests to toss to the fish, so when I stepped on to the bridge, 50 fish rushed under me, mouths agape.

And that, sorry Dear Readers, was our day. We went to dinner at one of the restaurants and had a lovely meal. Just a perfect vacation day. Not a drop of rain all day, but it is supposed to pour beginning overnight. We have been receiving Flood Watch warnings all afternoon on our phones. We will see what we will do tomorrow, but for now, we are all so happy and so full.

Until my next update, I remain, your Kauai correspondent.
