Indio, California: After being away four weekends in a row, we really need to buckle-down this week and get some work done around here! Catch up time. Concentrate on our casita design. Go through our mail. Pay some bills. Answer emails.
First order of business was to visit FedEx to overnight Lenny's garage door opener (to the new house) to him - we realized it was still attached to the visor of our Honda about half-way back to Indio last night. Sorry, Lenny! We answered emails, shipped weekend Camping Journal orders and then went outside to watch our motorhome have a bath.
I thought the NCAA Basketball Championship game would be the perfect opportunity to test the new Buffalo Wing Sauce from Tabasco. The sauce seems to be regular old Tabasco Sauce with a little garlic, but I'm game. What's not to love? The ingredients are red cayenne pepper, distilled vinegar, water, salt and garlic. Calories per serving? ZERO. Fat? ZERO. Sodium? Only 190mg.
Except then the recipe calls for 1/3 cup of melted butter and 2½ pounds of chicken wings. Blue Cheese dressing dip and celery sticks? Optional! At least the wings are baked, instead of the usual deep-fried. The instructions on the box call for baking the wings on a foil-lined pan for one hour at 425° and then tossing the hot wings in a bowl with the melted butter and 4 ounces of Tabasco Buffalo Style Hot Sauce.
Only thing? The bottle contains 5 ounces of sauce and the recipe calls for 4 ounces. Seriously? Come on, Tabasco, step it up. What is anyone going to do with one lousy ounce of the sauce?
On a personal note: our little grandson is eight months today!
Until my next update, I remain, your "I did not win my NCAA bracket" correspondent.
SLOGGER REPORT: I had to give myself another day of rest after helping the kids move. Who I am even kidding, thinking I am in such great shape because of all my jogging? My arms and legs ACHE today. Tomorrow, I will return to my usual program.
