Indio, California: DT and I were up at 2 o'clock this morning, greeting the weary and starving travelers. We woke the baby and had scrambled eggs and toast in the kitchen while the kids told us of their fabulous adventures in Tanzania. Leo was so excited to see his parents and his parents were overjoyed to see their boy. Forget sleep-training, this baby spent the night in bed between his parents.
The kids loved their tour company, the hotels, the restaurants and their fellow travelers - but they especially loved all the wildlife and they have hundreds of great photos to sort through. I can't wait to spend more time looking at their great photographs of elephants, lions, cheetahs, baboons, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, hippos, rhinos, crocodiles, hundreds of birds and a zillion antelope-type critters. One photo just looked like a tree, until further inspection saw a leopard up in the tree. Then Lisa pointed-out an antelope carcass up in the tree. The leopard pulled his kill up into the tree to protect it from marauders.
How much do we love these two?Lenn & Lisa brought us pretty and useful souvenirs of their trip - especially a traditional red Maasai blanket or shuka and an intricately painted cheese knife carved from cow bone.
Not sure how the kids would be coping with jetlag, we stuck-around this morning while they unpacked, etc., but since everything seemed to be under control (and Leo was so extremely happy) by early afternoon, we hit the road to Indio when Lisa and Lenny decided to sleep while Leo had his afternoon nap.
Looks like DT and I will be heading over to Phoenix tomorrow (about a four hour drive in the car) to attend the Fiesta Bowl - Oregon v Kansas State. He ordered tickets weeks ago, just in case we would be able to attend. The game is on ESPN, so check your local listings and cheer for My Ducks. Look for us in the stadium - we will be the ones wearing green & yellow.
