Mother’s Day

Golden, Colorado: Happy Mother's Day!

11 May 2014 New York Times crossword puzzle

Oh. My. Goodness. We woke to 4 or 5 inches of snow - and it was still snowing.

Seriously, I can't understand why/how people live here in the winter. And in what world is May considered winter?

Dave and I just stayed inside our warm and toasty motorhome - with the radiant floor heaters on HIGH - and caught-up on emails and photo editing until the roads were safe to traverse.

Where are the palm trees?

It is such a shock to my system, going from bare feet to boots. And socks.

My Driver used the squeegee, usually purposed for window washing, to remove snow from the roof of the Honda.

We spent the day with my family, celebrating Mother's Day. Both kids were in attendance. Leo facetimed with us all and we even had a visit from Sue - my friend since middle-school (called junior high in those days) - and her husband, Gary, who live in the Denver area.

It continued to snow all day.

Kris made a vat of white bean, chicken and green chili. It was absolutely delicious and just the perfect meal to serve on a snowy day. Thank you, family, for taking such good care of us on our visit to Denver - and maybe Kris will share her chili recipe???

We returned to our motorhome just as it became really too dark to drive in all the slushy mess. Though the snow was piling-up, the roads were clear as the temperature hovered just at, or above, freezing.

Until my next update, I remain, your snowy correspondent.
