Indio, California: Dave and I have returned to our campsite in Indio after another busy weekend with the kids in Los Angeles. Apparently, we have been given a week off so will not be traveling to The Big City next weekend… but I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be able to help the kids when needed – and what a joy to spend time with our Little Leo!

The sun was shining this morning in Los Angeles. The temperatures were not very high, but after the miserable weather yesterday, it was a pleasure to bundle-up in only sweaters to visit the farmers market in Atwater Village before returning to Indio. Before heading out to the market, Our Gourmet Girl prepared Challah French Toast for our breakfast.

I found gorgeous organic fennel bulbs at the Atwater Village Farmers Market this morning and used them as a “roasting rack” under whole chicken legs (that I had marinated in garlic, anise liquor, olive oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice) this evening. 45 minutes in a 425° oven, 10 minutes resting under foil and we had a lovely one-pan meal.

NOTE TO READERS: We have learned this evening the #10 Ducks will be facing (the unranked) Texas in the Alamo Bowl on 30 December. We will be watching this game on television.
