Wheat Germ Bread is very flavorful and has a nice color – great for toast – fabulous as sandwich bread. Press an additional Tablespoon of Wheat Germ into the top of the loaf before baking for a rustic-looking loaf.
ADD TO BREAD MACHINE IN THIS ORDER:
1¼ cups water
3 Tablespoons honey
¼ cup wheat germ
1 cup stone-ground whole wheat flour
2 cups white bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
2½ teaspoons yeast
Use whole wheat/dough cycle. After cycle is finished, turn dough onto lightly whole-wheat-floured board. Let rest 10 minutes. Shape into loaf. Place in oiled 1½ -pound loaf pan and let rise about 40 minutes, or until doubled. Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool before slicing.
